A last minute wedding cake

Believe it or not, this was a last minute cake, as far as wedding cakes go. We went out to Utah for my brothers wedding and when we got there he hit Amy up for doing his cake. After a bit of a panic and a few rushed preparations Amy went to work. My brother was rather concerned about how the cake would taste, since someone had told him that wedding cakes did not taste very good. This concern prompted the following phone conversation between me and my brother:

Him: Will we like how the cake tastes?
Me: What?
Him: Will we like how the cake tastes?
Me: Well... you chose white cake; do you like the taste of white cake? If you do, you will like the taste of the cake.
Him: Yes, but I heard that the frosting tastes bad.
Me: Amy is using fondant...
Him: That is it; I heard that stuff is disgusting!!!
Me: I have only had Amy's and I love it, she makes it out of marshmallow. If you like marshmallow, you will like this.

The wedding came and went with out a problem, well there was a photographer that kept asking for the cake to be moved (I thought Amy was going to kill her), but that is another story. Everyone agreed that not only did the cake look fabulous, it also tasted divine.

My wife has been decorating cakes for a few years now; she has done wedding cakes for her family and mine. She has done birthday cakes for our children and others; she has recently started looking for more cakes to do, so I decided that I would start this blog highlighting some of my favorite cakes that she decorates.
This was a cake done for our daughter's tenth birthday. I had no idea that she was planning this cake and was blown away when I got home and saw it. This was her first attempt at a topsy turvy cake, we found out later that the construction was not quite right. All Amy did was look at a picture of a topsy turvy cake and went from there, truly amazing. I think this is the perfect little girl cake, my daughter and her friends agreed (there was lots of squealing, as little girls are prone to).
